Hermès seeks a Selling and Service Assistant for its Plaza Del Lago boutique in Chicago; hourly retail support role opening August 2026.
Role & Responsibilities
- Process and verify all point-of-sale transactions including sales, sends, repairs, and client verification with accuracy
- Maintain detailed and meaningful CRM records to document purchase history and support sales analysis
- Execute opening and closing procedures in collaboration with management, including cash reconciliation and register preparation
- Provide exceptional client service aligned with Hermès standards: prompt greeting, assistance with inquiries, and elegant wrapping and packaging at point of sale
- Support the sales team through merchandising preparation, stock retrieval, and stockroom physical organization
- Maintain the selling floor and workstations to optimal standards, ensuring adequate inventory of bags, boxes, notecards, ribbons, and POS materials
- Assist with stockroom operations including merchandise replenishment, EAS tagging, and physical inventory coordination
- Administer after-sales services: log repairs, contact clients regarding service status, and maintain active repair records
- Answer incoming calls in a timely, courteous manner consistent with luxury service expectations
- Perform all additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of retail experience, preferably in a luxury environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with point-of-sale systems and cash handling strongly preferred
- Demonstrated customer service orientation and ability to deliver exceptional experiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain focus under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities
- Ability to navigate difficult situations with grace, compassion, and composure
- Capacity to lift 0–25 pounds without assistance
- Regular in-person presence at the company-designated boutique location is essential

Experience
Minimum one year of retail experience, with preference for prior service in a luxury retail setting.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; additional retail or customer service training is advantageous.
