Retail Planning Manager position in Seoul at a luxury retailer. Manage sales forecasting, inventory optimization, and supply chain operations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage yearly sales budgets by store and product category in collaboration with the Retail Merchandising Director
  • Conduct monthly sales performance reporting and reforecasting against financial targets
  • Monitor weekly sales metrics and merchandise on-shelf (MOS) for all categories, identifying and flagging stock risk situations
  • Define and optimize stock levels by store and category through regular sales analysis and inventory monitoring
  • Manage daily stock allocation from the local distribution center to retail stores based on demand forecasts
  • Establish and execute stock replenishment strategies aligned with group protocols while adapting to local market dynamics
  • Coordinate with headquarters supply department to facilitate timely product deliveries and resolve logistics issues
  • Define permanent stock items (PSI) and set minimum/maximum replenishment parameters for automatic stock transfers, reviewed twice annually
  • Monitor stock aging and propose corrective actions to minimize obsolescence
  • Collaborate with merchandisers to define open-to-buy (OTB) budgets and track spending throughout seasonal periods
  • Lead monthly meetings with internal logistics teams to review inventory flow, address operational challenges, and identify efficiency improvements
  • Manage discounted sales initiatives and oversee stock returns from retail locations to the distribution center
  • Participate in annual inventory stocktaking and reconciliation processes
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc initiatives as required by the subsidiary
  • Serve as a key partner in the integration and implementation of SAP systems
  • Supervise and mentor the Retail Planning team

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the retail industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in retail planning, merchandising, or logistics operations
  • Proven experience in team management and people leadership
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel at an expert level
  • Strong analytical capabilities with ability to work with complex data and sales forecasts
  • Fluent in English; ability to understand French is advantageous
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented mindset balanced with synthetic, action-focused communication style
