Hermès Sellier — Pantin: Apprenticeship, Quality & Innovation Project Engineer. Laboratory-based textile materials R&D (12–24 months).

Role & Responsibilities

  • Engage with internal métiers to capture needs, analyse state-of-the-art methods and define requirements for textile usage simulation and accelerated ageing protocols.
  • Develop and validate sample preparation and fibre/material characterisation procedures in the laboratory (optical microscopy, electron microscopy, physico-mechanical tests) with support from HMS experts and internal/external laboratories.
  • Investigate mechanisms of textile pilling, quantify correlations between fibre properties, usage and pilling, and convert findings into predictive assessment methods.
  • Coordinate, specify and where required pilot investments in dedicated laboratory equipment and supervise their commissioning.
  • Work cross-functionally with Innovation, Sustainability, Scientific & Regulatory expertise and Quality teams to transfer knowledge and deploy standardised methods across métiers.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Master’s-level engineering programme (Bac+5) — engineering school or equivalent.
  • Scientific generalist background, preferably with coursework or specialisation in textiles, materials science or chemistry.
  • Rigorous, methodical approach with strong laboratory discipline and attention to data quality.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and interpersonal ease for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary expert teams.
  • Interest in materials and tactile qualities of luxury products; English language skills desired.

Experience
