Role & Responsibilities

  • Drive transformed materials developments within collection timelines by identifying materials, technologies, and suppliers meeting Hermès quality standards and responding to creative briefs from the Design Studio and Commercial Collection Direction
  • Ensure seamless coordination between Studio, Collection, Procurement, Quality, and other teams throughout project lifecycle, acting as liaison and removing obstacles
  • Define and manage project timelines, communicate project progress, and disseminate all necessary information to stakeholders; pilot validation phases and accompany prototyping and fine-tuning processes
  • Validate feasibility and challenge partner recommendations; propose solutions during disruptions and guarantee deliverables at each critical development milestone; animate overall reverse-planning with all parties through initial market launches
  • Conduct rigorous material and transformation process qualification by controlling partner material proposals, formalizing feedback, orienting next steps to meet specifications, and validating compliance at each development stage
  • Partner with suppliers on referencing, trial orders, and material shipments; communicate Hermès requirements; identify and mitigate quality, capacity, and timeline risks; provide visibility on planning and organizational structure
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance and sourcing of innovative finishing techniques
  • Anticipate industrial framing and challenges during development; ensure production readiness during volume scaling; propose logistics and IT workflow in coordination with Procurement and Supply; initiate pricing discussions; establish quality control tools with the Quality department
  • Ensure dossier handovers of materials in development to production teams (suppliers, central operations, sites); accompany teams through pre-series production and necessary adjustments; establish industrialization KPIs
  • Maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes; develop and enrich materials dossiers and technical expertise; establish development KPIs; ritualize exchanges with trade teams and cultivate a professional network

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (Bac +5) from an engineering school or equivalent
  • Proven experience in project management and materials development
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to materials and genuine interest in manufacturing processes and artisanal techniques
  • Recognized for thoroughness, rigor, and intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Willingness to travel throughout Europe
