Hermès — Pantin: Preventive Conservation Assistant (apprenticeship) at the Conservatoire de Créations Hermès, 12‑month full‑time position.
Role & Responsibilities
- Contribute to preventive conservation campaigns for the Conservatoire’s collections under the supervision of the head of logistics and inventory.
- Prepare and carry out preliminary treatments and basic consolidation of objects prior to storage, display or loans.
- Design and fabricate bespoke packaging, mounts and supports that optimise an object’s environment and ergonomics.
- Condition objects for transport and storage, applying best practice for handling, packing and environmental control.
- Participate in regie activities for exhibitions and incoming/outgoing loans, including object handling and transport preparation.
- Maintain accurate condition reports and support inventory tasks related to the reserves and collection management.
- Work safely and methodically in the storage reserves, including extended periods in basement storage areas.
Qualifications
- Formal training in preventive conservation of cultural heritage or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrable manual dexterity and experience in fine handling of objects or materials.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the capacity to follow conservation protocols.
- Adaptability, initiative and the ability to work collaboratively within a heritage/regie team.
- Availability for a 12‑month, full‑time apprenticeship beginning September 2026.

Experience
Open to beginners and recent graduates; prior practical experience through internships or coursework in preventive conservation or museum practices is advantageous but not required.
Education
Training in preventive conservation of cultural property or an equivalent technical qualification.
