HMM seeks Polishing Workshop Supervisor in Fundão, Portugal to oversee metal finishing operations and lead a team of skilled artisans.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, and operationally oversee the polishing team, ensuring alignment with production plans and priorities
  • Coordinate equipment availability and material supply for all manual and mechanised metal preparation, polishing, and finishing operations
  • Work with the production scheduler to establish priorities and monitor workflow within the workshop
  • Validate the correct execution of all polishing and finishing stages, ensuring compliance with finishing specifications, polishing procedures, and inspection requirements
  • Verify the conformity of produced pieces and ensure the proper execution of quality control procedures
  • Record production data—including defects, rejections, and rework—accurately in M3 and Prodsmart systems
  • Identify and anticipate operational needs that may impact productivity, capacity, or delivery schedules
  • Ensure correct use of all machines, tools, and personal protective equipment; promote workshop organisation, cleanliness, and maintenance
  • Monitor and report production and quality metrics for the workshop
  • Contribute to the training, technical development, and onboarding of new team members
  • Maintain alignment with Quality, Industrial Performance, Supply Chain, and HR teams to meet lead times and operational requirements

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in industrial polishing, metal finishing, or comparable operations
  • Prior experience supervising or managing operational teams
  • Knowledge of polishing, abrasion, and metal finishing techniques
  • Familiarity with materials such as brass and stainless steel
  • Understanding of tools, machinery, and inspection methods used in polishing operations
  • Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to workshop equipment and working conditions
  • Strong organisational and priority-management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement
  • Leadership capability and operational team management experience
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach
