HERMÈS seeks a Materials-Model Alignment Project Manager to oversee the industrialisation of risk-critical material-product combinations within the Leather Goods division. Based in Pantin, this full-time role coordinates 10–20 concurrent projects across multiple manufacturing facilities, ensuring sustainable material sourcing, uncompromising quality standards, and seamless production continuity. The incumbent manages complex qualification protocols from initial trials through production ramp-up, liaising with cross-functional teams including technical design, engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain partners.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end industrialisation of material-product combinations, coordinating technical qualification from prototype through production launch across all assigned facilities
- Establish and lead integrated project teams across design, technical direction, manufacturing sites, and material expertise centres, fostering cross-functional collaboration and best-practice dissemination
- Develop comprehensive risk assessment frameworks in partnership with central technical direction, design engineering, and material expertise teams; implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success
- Conduct on-site oversight of qualification activities—including prototype validation, reproducibility and repeatability assessments, and performance monitoring (material consumption, workability, quality metrics)—to guarantee production readiness
- Reconcile project objectives, technical feasibility, production capacity constraints, and timelines across the entire portfolio to optimise resource allocation and scheduling
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between sites and projects through technical reviews and lessons-learned sessions, standardising solutions and promoting operational excellence
- Manage project governance through structured kickoff meetings, milestone validation, stakeholder alignment forums, and tactical committee reporting
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to strengthen materials-product alignment protocols and enhance future project outcomes
Qualifications
- Engineering degree (or equivalent technical qualification)
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in materials science, product development, or manufacturing project management
- Demonstrated expertise in materials and product knowledge with proven ability to deepen technical mastery continuously
- Successful track record leading cross-disciplinary projects with measurable outcomes and on-time delivery
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities; capacity to influence and persuade across organisational levels
- Strong decision-making capability combined with collaborative, agile working style
- Fluency in written and oral communication in French and English
- Availability for frequent national and international travel to cover multiple manufacturing facilities
Skills
Experience
Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in materials engineering, product development, or manufacturing project management, ideally within luxury goods production or high-end leather goods manufacturing. Proven success leading multidisciplinary projects with international scope and complex technical requirements.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (materials science, mechanical engineering, or equivalent discipline) or higher technical qualification; advanced degree in project management or materials engineering preferred.
