Hermès — Materials Development Intern in Busto Garolfo, Italy. 6‑month internship in footwear material development at Atelier HCI.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the Materials Development Technician in research, development and industrialisation of textile raw materials and components for footwear.
- Monitor material developments and orders (fabrics and textile components) from prototyping and sampling through to industrialisation.
- Code materials and enter purchase/order data into the company system.
- Liaise with suppliers to collect technical datasheets and verify conformity with internal specifications.
- Create and monitor retro-planning for material approval and homologation processes.
- Catalogue, archive and manage material stock and samples.
- Coordinate with the Paris technical/product teams to transmit technical information to relevant stakeholders (product office, master office).
Qualifications
- Vocational or technical training in footwear, materials, textiles or equivalent; strong passion for footwear accepted.
- Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent command of Italian and good working knowledge of English or French.
- Strong product sensitivity with a meticulous attention to quality and detail.
- Good communication skills, team orientation, flexibility and adaptability.

No prior professional experience required; beginners and recent graduates are accepted. This is an entry-level internship placement intended for candidates seeking hands‑on experience in footwear material development.
Education
Vocational or technical education in footwear, textiles, materials science or a related discipline; candidates with demonstrable interest and knowledge of footwear products will be considered.
