Hermès seeks a leather goods artisan to join one of its manufacturing workshops in Normandy, contributing to the production of high-quality leather items including handbags and small leather goods. This role involves mastering traditional techniques, working with premium materials, and producing durable, unique pieces that meet rigorous quality standards and production timelines. The successful candidate will undergo a structured apprenticeship pathway—beginning with a 6-month professional development contract, followed by a 12-month apprenticeship or professional contract, leading to a permanent CDI position upon successful completion of all training requirements and CAP (Brevet d'Aptitude Professionnelle) in Leatherwork.

Role & Responsibilities

• Fabricate high-quality leather goods (handbags, small leather goods) using traditional artisanal techniques and premium materials
• Perform precise assembly and finishing operations on various product models in accordance with quality specifications and production timelines
• Work with diverse materials and production variations while maintaining consistency and excellence in craftsmanship
• Engage in continuous learning and skill development throughout the apprenticeship and professional training pathway
• Collaborate effectively with experienced artisan mentors and workshop colleagues to preserve and advance traditional leatherworking savoir-faire

Qualifications

• Attainment or pursuit of CAP Maroquinerie (Certificate of Artisanal Competence in Leatherwork) during the training pathway
• Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail
• Genuine passion for handcraft and tactile work with materials
• Strong organizational skills and pragmatic problem-solving ability
• Ability to sustain focused, rhythmic work for extended periods

Skills

Experience

Beginners are welcome; no prior leatherworking experience is required. The role includes comprehensive training and mentorship by experienced artisans within Hermès' École des Savoir-Faire (School of Traditional Crafts).

Education

Secondary education preferred. Candidates will pursue and obtain the CAP Maroquinerie (Certificate of Competency in Leatherwork) during the structured apprenticeship and professional training pathway.
