Hermès Manufacture de Métaux in Champigny‑sur‑Marne seeks a Laboratory Technician Apprentice (Alternance) — 12‑month apprenticeship starting Sept 2026.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute climatic and mechanical tests requested by internal clients and R&D (artificial sweat, thioacetamide, salt spray, humid heat, abrasion, drop tests, tensile and cycle tests).
  • Perform physico‑chemical analyses including preparation of solutions, sample dilution, reagent addition and ICP sample preparation and data processing.
  • Monitor and control electroplating/galvanoplasty baths: perform cell checks, dosages, bath sampling and coordinate external analyses with suppliers.
  • Plan and schedule tests using Excel and laboratory planning tools; organise external testing (cutting, nickel release) and manage weekly test sheets.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment (pH‑meters, Fischerscope and other measurement devices); conduct in‑lab investigations when anomalies occur.
  • Record, interpret and report test results; prepare and distribute written reports in digital and paper formats to requestors.
  • Manage laboratory inventories, consumables, purchase orders and reception of materials.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bac+3 programme (Licence) in Chemistry or a third‑year engineering school with a chemistry/materials focus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with external suppliers and internal clients.
  • Proven discretion and respect for confidentiality in handling sensitive product and test information.
  • Good command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; ability to synthesise technical results into concise reports.
  • Genuine interest and basic aptitude for practical chemistry and analytical methods.
