About Hermès

This prestigious fashion house, renowned for its timeless elegance and innovative designs, is a part of a leading global luxury conglomerate. The brand is committed to excellence and offers a dynamic environment where creativity and business acumen are equally valued.

Hermès is seeking a Home and Lifestyle Specialist to develop its Maison and Art of Living business, advise clients and architects, manage design projects, and share expertise in objects, materials and craftsmanship. The role is an unlimited contract, full-time and on-site, based between office space and the Maison shop floor on Bond Street in London.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Drive Hermès GB’s Maison and Lifestyle business by identifying new client opportunities and interior projects, growing Home & Lifestyle sales against goals through targeted action plans, and maintaining an up-to-date client portfolio.
  • Advise architects, designers, interior decorators and customers throughout purchases, offering tailored recommendations and technical expertise across online, in-store and project-based journeys.
  • Represent the Maison at external events, brand moments and client experiences; create in-store opportunities and support activations, animations and client experiences aligned with house priorities and commercial goals.
  • Own the Art of Living events calendar, use the store as a client showroom, and manage or participate in fairs and events, including Milan Furniture Fair, Paris Maison & Objet and London Masterpiece.
  • Manage key architect and design projects: prepare presentations, provide technical advice, establish quotations, follow projects through delivery and payment, manage shipment including export and insurance, verify partner credentials, process orders, arrange appointments, and visit UK studios to present Hermès collections.
  • Liaise with the UK Press team on potential adjoining exhibitions and attend annual internal meetings in Paris.
  • Act as the subsidiary’s primary Maison expert, explaining objects and craftsmanship and communicating furniture and object artistry through heritage-, technique- and lifestyle-led storytelling.
  • Guide clients through selection with integrity and without sales pressure, build their confidence and understanding, and partner with Client Relationship Specialists on appointments, personalised follow-ups and long-term relationships.
  • Develop CAD drawings to support furniture proposals.
  • Mentor colleagues, share knowledge and provide day-to-day guidance; support product-assortment and selling-ceremony training, translate technical information into accessible narratives, and partner with the Training and Culture Manager on training plans aligned with commercial priorities and product focus.
  • Stay current with market developments, collector trends and Maison innovations, and work closely with the Maison Métier Manager.
  • Share client interests, product performance, buying opportunities and order-processing feedback with Retail Merchandising and leadership; collaborate with Sales and Service Support on orders, client needs, alternatives and technical solutions.
  • Share client insights to inform assortment decisions and support in-store Maison Métier activations and appointments outside the Métier when required.
  • Work with the warehouse team on deliveries, stock and quality checks when required; support Art of Living in other subsidiary stores when necessary.
  • Act as a reference for St Louis and Puiforcat, highlight objects to potential clients and support business development; share new collection information with sales teams and support team upskilling.
  • Work closely with the Maison Métier Department Manager and Visual Merchandising team, sharing scenography proposals; ensure the wider team understands Hermès Horizons projects and that potential business is followed up and developed.
  • Manage complex requests with project stakeholders, including dimensions, materials, customisation and availability, with rigour and elegance; provide detailed specifications, handle objections and answer technical queries.
  • Communicate updates on tools and resources to the wider team and manage client communications regarding Maison orders, including follow-ups, delays and invoices.
  • Maintain the top 200 architect and designer contacts and develop other trade-business channels, including members’ clubs, stylists, personal shoppers and department stores.
  • Support Maison events, including press days, fairs and store events; collaborate with the Maison Métier in Paris when needed, arrange workshop and showroom visits to Paris, and support architect and designer contacts for international Maison events.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business development; previous business development or architectural experience is highly beneficial.
  • Specialist homeware experience in a luxury retail environment.
  • Knowledge of the architect and design market and upcoming developments.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of objects, materials and craftsmanship.
  • Experience advising luxury clientele through a human-centric, relationship-led approach.
  • Highly organised, rigorous and reliable, with the ability to work autonomously and anticipate needs.
  • Professional and able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Client- and service-oriented, with very strong communication skills.
  • Passionate about the Maison and sharing knowledge, expertise and experience.
  • Warm, polished, refined and genuinely client-focused, with an ability to build authentic human connections.
  • Discreet and trustworthy, with the integrity to prioritise long-term relationships over transactional selling.
  • A natural educator with curiosity, patience and a passion for sharing knowledge.
  • Cultured and articulate, able to bring products to life through narrative, history and craftsmanship.
  • Calm and composed, able to reassure clients through significant purchases.
  • Collaborative, team-spirited and generous with expertise.
  • The role is based between office space and the shop floor at the Maison on Bond Street; uniform is required when necessary, such as on the shop floor or in in-store client appointments. The position is on-site.
