Hermès seeks a Documentation and Archives Manager for a 4-month contract role in Bourgoin-Jallieu, managing textile collections, digitization, and lending operations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Interpret and respond promptly to documentary selection requests from internal HTH divisions and group management, including artistic direction teams and external clients
  • Search for archive documents using the HTH documentary management software and curate selections based on moodboards and research briefs
  • Share selections with stakeholders through appropriate channels, including watermarked image files and formal lending agreements
  • Extract textile archive documents from inventory and record removals in the registry system; prepare and send lending conventions with detailed descriptions, condition reports, and technical specifications
  • Process loan returns by conducting quality inspections, registering receipts, and systematically reintegrating documents into archives according to established classification rules
  • Digitize incoming textile collections (Bucol, Métaphores, Hermès) upon arrival and import images into the documentary management system; index digitized materials according to AJARIS protocols
  • Conduct regular follow-up on loans approaching expiration dates and ensure timely recovery of loaned materials
  • Oversee the relocation and enrichment of the Hermès pattern collection from temporary storage to the dedicated archives space, including receipt and cataloguing of additional materials from Paris studio
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding and strict adherence to archive conservation standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements; alert supervisors and maintenance services to any conservation risks or operational hazards

Qualifications

  • Secondary education (Bac +2) or equivalent
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in a similar archives management, documentation, or records management role
  • Proficiency with office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with documentary management systems and digital asset management platforms
  • Knowledge of Italian or English language preferred
  • Demonstrated artistic sensitivity and respect for heritage artifacts
  • Strong organizational rigor and attention to detail in archives stewardship
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse internal stakeholders
