Hermès Cuirs Précieux is hiring a Development and Industrialization Manager in Montereau-Fault-Yonne, France to lead leather development projects and a small technical team.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate development projects for Hermès Maroquinerie Sellerie (HMS), other Hermès métiers and external clients from kick-off through industrialisation, ensuring adherence to client specifications.
- Plan, supervise and/or execute operational trials for dyeing and finishing; develop and document manufacturing formulas and process parameters.
- Ensure viable industrialisation of developments and monitor series production lifecycle in collaboration with project owners and production stakeholders.
- Drive colour development (chrome and chrome-free/bisphenol-free supports) in partnership with downstream production, tannery supply chain and HMS quality teams.
- Manage seasonal HCP collections in close collaboration with the artistic director and design teams.
- Capture and analyse RETEX (return on experience) and production variances during industrialisation to stabilise future manufacturing runs.
- Line-manage a small development team: organise workloads, conduct individual and collective follow-ups, perform annual reviews and implement on-site observation sessions to remove poor practices.
- Safeguard workplace safety and ergonomics for artisan teams and maintain real-time oversight of artisan-led development and industrialisation activities.
- Transmit developed know-how to production teams through clear specifications, dye/finish formulas and documented failure libraries; maintain constructive relations with commercial teams and clients.
- Report regularly to HCP R&D leadership on project progress and strategic orientations for future developments.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree; diploma from ITECH considered a strong asset.
- Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in an industrial environment; experience in tannery or leather finishing is advantageous.
- Proven experience in managing projects and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience supervising or mentoring artisans or small technical teams is preferred.
Skills
Experience
Minimum two years in an industrial production environment with hands-on exposure to process development or manufacturing. Practical experience in tanneries, leather finishing or allied industries and prior responsibility for running development projects or supervising artisans is a distinct advantage.
Education
Engineering degree (ITECH diploma preferred).
