Hermès seeks Department Manager for Harrods Accessories, London. 12-month maternity cover contract, full-time role.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead by example on the shop floor and foster a welcoming atmosphere for customers
  • Provide direction, feedback and support to the team to maintain the highest service standards
  • Oversee staff induction and onboarding, particularly for new and temporary team members
  • Ensure the team receives comprehensive training on in-store procedures, product knowledge, and presentation techniques
  • Coordinate appropriate staffing coverage in collaboration with the Store Manager and Administration Manager, including during peak periods and holidays
  • Support the development of new client relationships and maintain accuracy in the client database
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and manage client complaints proactively and in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with the Press department on Hermès events and with the Client Experience Manager on CRM initiatives
  • Achieve sales targets and encourage team members to meet their objectives
  • Provide guidance on sales tools including HPad reservations, customer orders, pre-selling, Click in store, and My Folio
  • Manage merchandise flow to the shop floor in coordination with the Stock team and maintain proper stock knowledge and handling
  • Utilize reporting systems to build action plans and improve business performance
  • Deputise for the Store Manager in their absence and undertake assigned projects
  • Produce, check and publish store performance reports according to set schedules
  • Ensure Hermès standards and visual merchandising guidelines are adhered to throughout the store
  • Perform keyholding duties and manage store opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain financial compliance including daily banking, cash reconciliation, and till reconciliation
  • Ensure the store and team meet Hermès presentation standards and maintain a hazard-free shop floor
  • Conduct security activities in accordance with company guidelines to protect stock and property
  • Support the Store Manager and Stock Team during stocktakes and cycle counts
  • Assist the back office team to alleviate administrative duties from the sales team

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of proven management experience in a retail environment
  • Demonstrated ability to perform as second in command in a high-paced store environment
  • Strong CRM focus and client relationship management expertise
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in sales systems, Microsoft Office, and Windows environments
  • Strong team player with capacity to work autonomously
  • Professional demeanor with ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Organised, flexible, and reliable work ethic
  • Valid visa permitting full-time work throughout the contract duration
