Hermès seeks a Data Engineer (VIE) in New York to build cloud data platform foundations during a major migration programme.
Role & Responsibilities
- Act as a local relay for architecture patterns, methodologies, standards, and best practices, ensuring consistent adoption across all data development initiatives
- Design and develop data pipelines from US local sources to Snowflake using dbt and SQL, with rigorous testing, documentation, and GitLab CI/CD versioning
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and traceability throughout ingestion workflows, establishing a foundation for downstream analytics
- Participate in the evolution of the Data Platform schema in collaboration with central Data & AI Platform teams
- Align all work with the retail core model already deployed across other geographic regions
- Model business datamarts in compliance with target data models defined by leadership, structuring transformation layers according to dbt standards and Hermès conventions
- Document data models and contribute to the data catalogue with descriptions, lineage, and conformity tests
- Map existing data sources from legacy local platforms and establish correspondence with new target models
- Identify and remediate gaps in definitions or grain between source and target systems
Qualifications
- Advanced SQL proficiency and strong relational data modelling practices (Star/Snowflake schema)
- Demonstrated expertise in dbt (Core or Cloud): models, tests, documentation, and macros
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake or equivalent cloud data warehouse (BigQuery, Redshift)
- Practical knowledge of GitLab CI/CD versioning and continuous integration practices
- Proven rigour, structural thinking, and proactive problem-solving
- Professional English proficiency (written and oral) is essential; French is a valuable asset

Experience
Significant first experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, such as an extended internship, apprenticeship, or initial professional mission. Candidates with foundational experience are encouraged to apply.
Education
Master's degree (Bac+5) in computer science, data engineering, applied mathematics, or equivalent qualification.
