Customs Compliance Administrator at Hermès Korea in Seoul – manage customs clearance, trade compliance, and inventory operations on a 12-month contract.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage customs clearance schedules with daily coordination with forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate declarations
- Ensure compliance with all customs regulations, including restricted items such as CITES, wildlife protection, plant protection, electrical, and chemical regulations
- Amend and update customs declarations for value changes, shipment shortages, or overages
- Monitor and review monthly customs duties with customs broker to ensure proper documentation and timely submission to finance
- Optimize customs expenses through continuous monitoring and analysis
- Organize and plan handling of unusual or event-related cargo, including Carnet and non-commercial items
- Prepare comprehensive export documentation including invoices, packing lists, export licenses, and Carnets for stock transfers and returns
- Ensure all returns procedures comply with destination-specific customs regulations
- Coordinate with forwarding agents and local trucking companies for return shipments and manage related monthly expenses
- Conduct reporting and analysis to break down and track customs duties and logistics costs
- Organize compliance testing for samples upon order confirmation through third-party logistics providers
- Monitor and maintain regulatory labeling compliance in coordination with 3PL warehouse operators
- Research and implement new regulatory requirements for newly launched items, including electrical, chemical, and environmental compliance standards
- Supervise data flows between different systems in coordination with third-party logistics providers
- Control and verify manual stock movements by reviewing supporting documentation from other departments
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience in customs clearance and import/export operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of international customs regulations and restricted item classifications including CITES and hazardous materials
- Understanding of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and inventory management processes
- Knowledge of distribution centre and store replenishment operations
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively with stores, logistics providers, and internal departments
- Experience with ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and operational accuracy
- Ability to commit to a 12-month contract
