Hermès seeks a CAD Design Engineer in Paris for an 18-month contract starting September 2026 in Equestrian product development.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Create 2D technical drawing definitions for bridlery and saddlery products using MODARIS or equivalent software, integrating technical and functional constraints across various equestrian disciplines
  • Support product definition evolution from initial prototype through industrial prototype and pre-series stages
  • Participate in first-article validation (development and industrial prototypes) and guide workshop teams through implementation
  • Design and model industrial CAD files for new products, special orders, and product improvements, including 2D leather cut plans, templates, moulds, and assembly guidance
  • Define dimensional tolerances and calculate tolerance chains to ensure functional consistency under all conditions
  • Design standard components (saddle trees and similar elements) using 3D SolidWorks modelling
  • Create and validate technical tooling plans for production equipment
  • Build and manage the technical reference database to establish common language across all Equestrian stakeholders
  • Establish and implement design and industrialization rules to guarantee optimal client delivery timelines without compromising product quality or safety
  • Serve as subject matter expert within the Equestrian division on CAD, tooling, and digital cutting technologies, coordinating with other brand entities

Qualifications

  • Diploma in specialized CAD design (Bac+2/3) or engineering degree
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in an industrial environment, ideally with soft materials
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software (FORMARIS or MODARIS) and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in agile mode with strong adaptability and autonomous task management
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with a service-oriented mindset
  • Methodical, precise, well-organized approach with meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills with a capacity for synthesizing complex information
