Hermès seeks Automation Tech Lead in Pantin to lead test automation strategy and team for omnichannel IT systems.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of external automation engineers; organize team activities and workload planning
- Define automation strategy for IT projects (ROI, technology selection, scope, timeline) and implement on eligible projects with appropriate tools
- Establish technical standards, development conventions, frameworks, and naming standards to guarantee high technical quality, maintainability, and scalability
- Identify when test automation is appropriate in partnership with QA leads; plan effort, select tools, and ensure team training
- Guarantee quality of developments performed by the team; maintain transverse vision of technical needs across projects and anticipate maintainability issues
- Industrialize automation methods and test execution within continuous integration platforms; assist team with script development (Python) where needed
- Manage configuration through Git repositories; ensure branch strategy, tag and version management, and adherence to best practices
- Maintain and evolve two internal QA websites: an industrialization platform for launching automated test campaigns and a toolbox server dedicated to in-house QA tools
- Plan test runs, maintenance, and automation schedules through regular meetings with QA Manager and other QA leads
- Report on test progress, quality status, and test results to QA Manager or project requesters; provide clear KPIs on project advancement and automation adoption
- Conduct performance and load testing (stress tests) and propose solutions for automated performance testing platforms where applicable
- Communicate progress transparently; alert early to capacity and project deviations and non-quality issues
- Provide regular workforce capacity plans and escalate resource and equipment needs to management
- Present service activities and initiatives to other DSI departments and IT subsidiaries; mentor team members and foster knowledge transfer
Qualifications
- Minimum BAC+5 level education; at least 6 years of professional software development experience, with minimum 3 years in test automation
- Proficiency in development languages: PHP, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Symfony, React, C#, VB.NET, SQL
- Strong knowledge of test automation tools: Tosca, Ranorex, Selenium
- Solid experience with API testing tools: Postman, Newman, SoapUI
- Good knowledge of PowerShell, Groovy, OAuth, SAML, NTLM, Reverse Proxy
- Hands-on experience with continuous integration tools and practices (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Strong SQL foundations
- Proficiency with complex Excel macros
- Demonstrated management experience leading teams of 2+ developers or automation engineers
- Ability to analyze and understand complex and varied technical environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication ability, stress management, and priority management
- Good knowledge of test management tools (Squash, Xray, etc.)
- Appetite for emerging AI technologies (Claude Code, chatbot, workspace, RAG, fine-tuning) with ability to formulate precise and structured prompts
- Fluent English (written and spoken) required; French language required for this location
Skills
Experience
A minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience is required, with at least 3 years specializing in test automation. The candidate must possess proven management experience directing teams of developers or automation engineers. Prior exposure to complex IT environments spanning multiple systems (ERP, e-commerce, retail APIs, payment solutions) is advantageous. Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and Cegid Y2 systems, while not mandatory, is valued.
Education
Bachelor's degree (BAC+5) or equivalent in computer science, software engineering, or related field. Continuous professional development in emerging automation technologies and AI-assisted coding practices is expected.
