Hermès Sellier — Paris: Assistant Knitwear Designer internship (Men's RTW), 6-month placement starting Sep 2026.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct fashion and technical image research for inspiration (volumes, details, finishes), as well as yarns, stitch patterns and knit techniques.
- Develop thematic proposals and translate ideas into silhouettes using Photoshop or hand sketching.
- Create graphic mock-ups and scaled mock-ups on patterns or 3D volumes using Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Propose colourways for approved models under guidance of the artistic director.
- Support fittings and post-fitting follow-up: photograph garments on mannequins and track model evolution.
- Update validated technical drawings using Photoshop.
- Contribute to studio administrative tasks: organising palettes, filing knit sample swatches and archives.
- Assist in preparation for the press show: installing the knitwear selection, daily steaming of pieces and managing mannequin fittings.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a recognised fashion, textile or design school (student internship required). Beginners accepted.
- Strong interest and sensitivity to knitwear, yarns and jersey construction.
- Good colour and graphic sensibility; ability to translate themes into visuals.
- Proven proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
- Organised, rigorous and dynamic with a service-oriented attitude, discretion and strong team spirit.
Skills
Experience
No professional experience required; beginners and students are accepted. Prior coursework or internships in knitwear, textile techniques or fashion studios is an advantage.
Education
Enrolled in a fashion design, textile or related programme (bachelor's or master's level studies typically accepted).
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Paris, Île-de-France, France.
