Hermès Travel Retail Asia — Assistant Accountant (contract) in Hong Kong. Responsible for accounting, reconciliations and SAP-based reporting for the airport store.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular bookkeeping for all accounting entries and reconciliations, including credit card sales, supplier vouchers and bank accounts.
  • Process and verify vendor invoices; manage payment cycles and AP workflows.
  • Perform inter-group invoicing and reconciliations within SAP to ensure correct intra-company settlements.
  • Prepare and support daily and monthly bank reconciliations and review retail sales reconciliations (cash, credit card and customer credit).
  • Assist with stock cycle counts and inventory (stock take) as directed by the manager.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities and prepare management reporting.
  • Ensure timely filing of all local tax returns and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Implement and enforce Hermès Group procedures and internal control measures; exercise adequate controls in daily routines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in retail or travel retail.
  • Practical experience with SAP is highly preferable.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with MS Office.
  • Detail-oriented, hands‑on and operational; able to work autonomously.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills; organised and a collaborative team player.
  • Immediate availability highly preferred.

Experience

At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a similar role, ideally within retail or travel-retail operations, with exposure to SAP, month‑end/year‑end closing and bank/revenue reconciliations.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
