Hermès seeks an Area Manager in Zurich to lead six luxury retail stores across Switzerland. Manage Store Managers, drive sales performance, and champion client experience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of six stores, supporting Store Managers in strategic execution and performance achievement across sales, customer experience, and talent development
  • Drive business performance by managing area turnover, KPIs, and financial indicators; ensure optimal resource allocation and balance between objectives and staffing
  • Champion client service excellence and brand values (Generosity, Simplicity, Bespoke, Surprise, Expertise) across all locations; maintain and activate customer databases to stimulate traffic and loyalty
  • Develop and implement commercial strategy in collaboration with the Retail Director; prepare store budgets, manage costs, and participate actively in buying sessions to ensure product offer relevance
  • Manage people development and succession planning; set annual objectives for Store Managers, provide coaching, and foster team cohesion through clear communication and high expectations
  • Oversee operational management, including store maintenance projects, renovation budgets, central project rollout coordination, and compliance with internal control procedures
  • Conduct regular store visits to ensure operational efficiency, address managerial matters, and maintain proximity to local market dynamics and specificities
  • Support Store Managers in handling major client complaints and maintaining after-sales excellence

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of store management and/or retail network animation experience
  • Proven strategic vision with demonstrated ability to develop creative, forward-thinking solutions
  • Strong multicultural and geographically dispersed team management capability
  • Structured, precise, and creative mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent relational qualities, active listening skills, and proven ability to inspire and lead high-performance teams
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Experience in luxury retail or high-end consumer goods preferred
