Hermès Paris Faubourg Saint-Honoré seeks an Alteration Specialist for a fixed-term contract (Nov–Jan). Formal sewing training required.
Role & Responsibilities
- Identify and assess alterations and repairs required on garments, communicating feasibility, timelines, and technical constraints to clients
- Position pins with precision and accuracy during fittings, verifying dimensions and symmetry with meticulous attention
- Propose tailoring solutions to enhance the client experience during ready-to-wear purchases
- Determine and ensure adherence to alteration timelines in alignment with boutique activity and workshop capacity
- Verify that alteration documentation (hcare file) is present on each garment
- Disassemble and reassemble garment pieces for alteration whilst respecting Hermès's distinctive artisanal techniques and specifications
- Press finished pieces to ensure clients receive garments in impeccable condition
Qualifications
- Formal sewing or couture training
- Demonstrated ability to visualize client sizing and body proportions
- Competency in formulating coherent alteration proposals
- Proficiency in standard garment measurement techniques
- Strong collaborative spirit with demonstrated ability to cooperate and support team members
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
