Founded in 1765, Hennessy is a legendary cognac Maison whose influence extends from the vineyards of Charente to the world’s most discerning markets. As an employer, Hennessy combines the heritage of exceptional craftsmanship with the dynamism of a global luxury leader within LVMH. Its teams contribute to a culture shaped by savoir-faire, innovation, transmission, and respect for terroir, while advancing responsible viticulture and long-term excellence. Hennessy offers professionals the opportunity to build meaningful careers across production, marketing, commercial development, sustainability, and operations, within an environment where authenticity, creativity, and collective ambition define the pursuit of enduring prestige.

Hennessy is seeking a Procurement Costing Methods Engineer Intern in its Procurement Department in Cognac to develop an interactive tool for consolidating CAPEX investment and OPEX maintenance estimates, improving project costing and supporting data-driven procurement. The internship involves historical data analysis, database design, tool development with Excel and Power BI, validation with users, and support for costing and negotiation strategies; it is a full-time, on-site internship.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Work with Procurement, the engineering office and Finance to define costing needs for building, winemaking process, production process and maintenance categories.
  • Define and design a robust, relevant database structure to aggregate key information from historical investment and maintenance projects.
  • Consult project managers and subject-matter experts to understand past projects and identify relevant technical and contextual markers; analyse completed projects to determine key technical markers, cost drivers using a total cost of ownership (TCO) approach, and innovations that significantly affect project outcomes.
  • Identify, extract, qualify and structure relevant historical project data—including costs, technical specifications, suppliers, timing and CSR indicators—to build a reference database.
  • Design and develop an interactive costing tool, primarily using Excel for calculation engineering and Power BI for visualisation and analysis, to generate reliable forecast ratios, estimate future project costs and support reviews of supplier proposals and Investment Purchase Requests (DAI).
  • Thoroughly test the tool and its features with end users, including buyers, project managers and technical teams.
  • Contribute to sector analysis of CAPEX and OPEX costs using the tool and available data, identifying business risks and opportunities.
  • Support buyers and technical teams in developing costing and negotiation strategies by providing accurate estimates and comparative analyses aligned with CSR objectives, including carbon footprint, water, regulatory compliance and sustainable innovation.
  • Help formalise methods and processes for using the tool to support its long-term viability, deployment and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Regularly present project progress, challenges and results to stakeholders, including Procurement teams and business divisions.
  • Document the tool and its features to facilitate user adoption and maintenance.
