Hennessy Collections Management Intern in Cognac — internship in heritage & archives, image indexing and archival processing on-site.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Index and catalogue historical and contemporary images into the media/phototeca system according to established metadata schemas.
  • Assist with the selection, triage and basic description of digital archival files.
  • Participate in the physical handling, sorting and recognition of historical archival fonds, ensuring appropriate preservation practices when manipulating fragile materials.
  • Conduct iconographic research to support exhibitions, publications and internal communication projects.
  • Perform ancillary collection-management tasks related to the patrimonial collection (archives, contemporary fonds, objects) under the supervision of the Heritage & Cultural Affairs team.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Licence or Master programme in cultural heritage, archival studies, library/documentation sciences, iconography or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of late 19th and 20th century history.
  • Proven rigor, organisational skills, sense of synthesis and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written French (orthography and rédaction) and good written English.
  • Familiarity with document management tools and standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience

Licence or Master in cultural heritage, archival studies, library & information science, documentation, iconography or equivalent academic training.
