Harrods is seeking a mechanically biased Technical Services Manager with a design background to lead MEP services across capital projects, from technical design and consultant management through delivery, handover and operational readiness. The role partners with multidisciplinary stakeholders and supports engineering standards and best practice; it is a permanent, full-time position.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health elements across capital projects.
  • Manage engineering consultants and design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve engineering schemes, specifications and technical designs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, building regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Oversee project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
  • Support project handovers, operation and maintenance documentation, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Coach and support wider project teams on M&E best practice.
  • Maintain engineering standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Mechanically biased, with a design background.
  • Strong technical knowledge and confidence leading complex engineering discussions with varied stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with commercial awareness and project delivery requirements.
  • Collaborative approach, with strong relationship-building and influencing skills across multiple teams.
  • Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
  • A minimum of five years' mechanically biased experience managing mechanical, electrical and public health projects.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, fire life safety and sustainability principles.
  • Experience delivering construction or engineering projects from inception through to handover.
  • Ability to review technical designs, engineering specifications and consultant proposals.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors and multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance, building regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • A degree related to mechanical engineering.
  • Professional membership with CIBSE.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
