Harrods is hiring a permanent Cleaning Operations Assistant Manager for its Knightsbridge store. The role leads 3 direct and 18 indirect reports, oversees cleaning and recycling operations, and works day shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM on a 5-out-of-7 rota, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 3 direct and 18 indirect reports, keeping people management, performance conversations, upskilling and training current.
- Lead proactively and visibly, guiding direct and indirect reports to deliver operational excellence through their people.
- Organise the allocation of cleaning operations and team leaders, reviewing business needs and developing solutions and actions to address challenges.
- Introduce and oversee recycling activity, training and coaching operatives to collect and dispose of waste in line with sustainability commitments.
- Help manage the use, ordering and storage of cleaning materials, uniforms and equipment, ensuring they are safe and available and teams are confidently trained.
- Balance routine cleaning, daily work and reactive operational needs, continually reviewing shift priorities.
- Coach team members proactively and consistently to support strong performance.
Qualifications
- Experience as an Assistant Manager in a cleaning environment, or in a similar organisation requiring a reactive and proactive approach.
- Spend regular, high-quality time at the front of the operation with operatives and team leaders.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to understand the challenges, issues or problems facing an individual or team.
- Strong awareness of HR policies and the ability to enforce and refer to them to ensure appropriate treatment of employees.
- Respond constructively to unexpected situations, with reactivity and problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrate resilience, a calm approach and sound judgement.
- Full flexibility to work 5 out of 7 days on a rota, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
- Able to work day shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
