Gucci seeks a Store Director to lead store performance, client experience, people development, sales, and operations at its Paramus location. The role requires at least seven years of relevant sales management experience; the base salary range is $140,000–$150,000 annually, with benefits and potential incentive-program participation for eligible employees.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead store results, people development and growth, client experience and engagement, and store operations with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Drive company strategy through strategic, operational, and floor leadership, optimizing business performance and ensuring seamless store functionality and a luxury service culture.
  • Model and foster Gucci’s values, excellence, hospitality, and client-centric strategy.
  • Lead the team in delivering client-centric service and after-sales experiences that achieve high client satisfaction.
  • Build brand awareness, establish market and store presence, and capture market share through community outreach and company-sponsored events.
  • Foster collaboration on clienteling activities and training.
  • Guide the development, implementation, and execution of CRM initiatives, including effective action plans and personalized future client development opportunities.
  • Partner with the Client Engagement team on business development, retaining and developing high-potential clients with a focus on the Top 100.
  • Promote full use of clienteling tools to drive client loyalty and acquisition.
  • Manage client flow on the selling floor to ensure every client is served exceptionally.
  • Coach the team to resolve client service issues and retain and strengthen client relationships.
  • Lead local events and product launches, ensuring client attendance and sales results meet targets.
  • Maintain knowledge of local competitors and prospects, and stay connected to local trends and developments.
  • Model professionalism, ethics, servant leadership, and a passionate attitude with employees and clients.
  • Guide managers in performance management and team development, engaging top performers and improving the performance of lower performers.
  • Foster a growth and can-do mindset, encouraging innovative solutions while upholding ethics and professionalism.
  • Develop team performance through timely feedback, on-the-job coaching and check-ins, and career conversations during the annual Performance and Development Review process.
  • Build the leadership and functional capabilities of the store team for future roles.

  • Lead effective store briefings that communicate business objectives and action plans, balancing business and people priorities.
  • Resolve employee-relations matters promptly in partnership with the line manager and People Partners.
  • Attract, recruit, and retain a high-performing team and build a talent pipeline through networking and competitive headhunting.
  • Oversee a consistent and timely Gucci onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Partner cross-functionally to achieve sales targets and KPIs while protecting operational integrity and monthly profitability.
  • Develop collaborative, innovative initiatives to capitalize on first-mover advantage and market opportunities.
  • Lead sales actively on the floor, coordinating front-of-house and back-of-house activities, engaging top clients, and delivering exceptional service and hospitality.
  • Manage stock levels to maximize full-price selling, maintain high sell-through, and align with product launches.
  • Ensure managers and the training team roll out training priorities so employees understand brand pillars and seasonal strategy.
  • Drive company KPIs by guiding and challenging the team to develop and implement strategies when performance standards are not met.
  • Allocate staff and schedules effectively to support sales and maintain high client-service standards.
  • Monitor competitor products, sales trends, people strategies, clienteling activities, and launches.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures covering operations, people, and security.
  • Manage and support stock levels through communication with key business departments to maximize full-price selling, maintain high sell-through, and align with product launches.
  • Complete Loss Prevention self-audits, monthly cycle counts, incident reporting, and inventory reconciliations to keep annual inventory shrinkage below the company target.
  • Prepare accurate monthly schedules and submit payroll records for all employees on time.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing merchandise requests and shipments.
  • Support and monitor in-store after-sales services.
  • Maintain Visual Merchandising standards set by the Global VM team.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Keep company assets organized in accordance with back-of-house and front-of-house guidelines.
  • Represent Gucci in accordance with wardrobe, presence, and grooming standards, and ensure the team follows those standards.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of sales management experience in retail, luxury retail, or a service-related industry.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • High ethical and professional standards, integrity, and the ability to inspire trust and influence a team.
  • Ability to analyze selling reports, identify business trends, and respond quickly to business needs.
  • Proven ability to deliver positive client experiences that build loyalty and measurable results.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Industry awareness, commercial knowledge, and strong business and financial acumen.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Passion for the fashion industry.
  • Flexibility to work a retail schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
