Gucci seeks a Shoe Mock-Up Technician in Scandicci, Italy. Translate creative shoe designs into 3D prototypes using advanced printing technology and artisanal craftsmanship.
Role & Responsibilities
- Create mock-ups and initial 3D prototypes of footwear from creative sketches, translating artistic concepts into tangible objects
- Demonstrate full proficiency in 3D printing technology to produce volumetric components such as heels, soles, and structural or decorative inserts
- Verify proportions, overall dimensions, and complex formal solutions using 3D printing to support early-stage physical prototyping
- Integrate 3D-printed components with manual workmanship to achieve coherent and readable three-dimensional prototypes
- Assess prototype aesthetics, volumes, and visual balance to ensure design integrity
- Collaborate closely with Shoe Pattern Makers and Designers, identifying construction issues, feasibility constraints, and improvement suggestions prior to CAD and industrialization phases
- Interpret creative sketches and anticipate potential technical execution challenges
- Facilitate dialogue between Creative and Technical teams while maintaining quality standards and development timelines
Qualifications
- Expertise in primary 3D printing processes and related materials
- Proven experience using 3D printers for shoe prototyping, including volumetric components, mock-ups, and test parts
- Excellent hand-modeling and manual craftsmanship skills
- Strong aesthetic sensitivity with refined attention to volumes and proportions
- Demonstrated ability to interpret sketches and translate style directions into physical form
- Solid knowledge of pattern-making techniques and construction methods for elegant and sport footwear
- Exceptional accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Skills
Experience
Candidates should possess hands-on experience in footwear prototyping and a demonstrated background in utilizing 3D printing technologies within the design and development phases of shoe production. Familiarity with both elegant and sport footwear construction is essential.
Education
No specific formal qualification explicitly required; however, a background in product design, footwear design, or technical prototyping is advantageous.

This position is based in Scandicci, Tuscany, Italy, within easy reach of Florence.
Compensation
The base compensation for this position is EUR 50,000 per annum.
