Its workplace celebrates self-expression, collaboration and innovation, while upholding exacting standards of quality, sustainability and client experience.

The Leather Goods Materials Lead defines material and color direction across Gucci’s Fashion and Core collections, translating creative briefs into actionable guidance and coordinating development with Gucci ArtLab, research teams, Design and Merchandising. The role requires 5–7 years of comparable luxury fashion experience, with direct Leather Goods experience strongly preferred; gross annual salary is €45,000, subject to the stated selection-process conditions, under the applicable national collective agreement (D111).

Role & Responsibilities

  • Translate creative briefs into defined material and color directions for Leather Goods Fashion and Core collections once the relevant grid is available.
  • Define the collection-wide palette of colors, leathers, finishes and material needs, ensuring alignment with the creative vision.
  • Provide actionable material briefs to Gucci ArtLab and research teams, adapting priorities to the collection’s evolving needs.
  • Connect LG Design, Gucci ArtLab and material research teams, translating creative concepts into development activities.
  • Coordinate day-to-day exchanges, reviews and follow-up actions with the Gucci ArtLab material representative working regularly in Milan.
  • Guide research and selection of leathers, materials, colors, treatments and finishes in line with creative briefs and collection requirements.
  • Review material proposals, samples and developments, consolidate feedback and direct next steps with Gucci ArtLab and research partners.
  • Ensure alignment across Leather Goods categories and collection streams, maintaining a coherent material language while addressing specific product needs.
  • Monitor material-development priorities, open points and critical timing, escalating risks and supporting timely creative decisions.
  • Maintain accurate material overviews, references and development information, ensuring stakeholders have updated guidance throughout the collection process.
  • Keep development swatches updated, organized and available to Design and Merchandising teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong graphic design, motion design and animation skills, or experience in a comparable creative role within fashion, luxury, design or another highly image-driven environment.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating refined visual sensibility, excellent graphic design skills and experience creating high-quality animated and motion content.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; experience with Premiere Pro and 3D or generative tools is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of typography, composition, color, image-making, editing, timing and visual storytelling, with the ability to translate abstract creative briefs into compelling outputs.
  • Experience collaborating with design and creative teams in a fast-paced collection environment, managing feedback and evolving priorities while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • A curious, proactive and solutions-oriented approach, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
