Gucci seeks Director of Merchandising Strategy in New York to lead product strategy, inventory planning, and go-to-market execution across the Americas.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead weekly and monthly full-price performance analysis across all channels (US, Canada, Central America, South America, ecommerce), identifying business trends, risks, and opportunities by division and product typology
- Own weekly in-season sell-through tracking by category and collection, monitoring performance against end-of-season (EOS) targets and identifying underperformance risks
- Present forward-looking comparative planning ahead of seasonal buys, summarizing exclusive strategy, historical performance data, and capsule collections to exceed year-over-year sales plans
- Coordinate deployment of go-to-market (GTM) strategies in-season and develop monthly and weekly sales phasing for new product across four annual collections (Cruise, Spring/Summer, Pre-Fall, Fall/Winter)
- Lead omnichannel performance analysis to evaluate channel effectiveness, identify trends, and assess key business metrics; conduct monthly Order-In-Store (iPad) analysis for stock rebalancing opportunities
- Lead seasonal price change analysis, build currency-specific pricing models identifying psychological thresholds, and communicate regional pricing recommendations to global headquarters
- Own seasonal SKU evolution across categories to ensure assortment productivity and recommend target SKU counts by department for store projects (openings, renovations, modifications)
- Lead full selection and deployment of Light Boxes 8x annually, reviewing assortments and out-of-home (OOH) media strategy to ensure visual implementation aligns with key programs and brand messaging
- Manage executive project deliverables including monthly Business Reviews, quarterly Town Hall presentations, annual Budget analysis, and annual Store Directors Meetings
- Lead end-to-end product launch planning for four collection launches, two seasonal capsules (Summer and Holiday), and major festivities (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Black Friday), organizing cross-functional teams and developing regionalized training materials
- Develop clear retail communications to support field alignment and execution for key launches, ensuring synchronization between product delivery, assortments, marketing communications, and client outreach strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, statistics, merchandising, or related field
- 15+ years of professional experience in merchandising, product strategy, or retail operations
- Minimum 10 years of people management and leadership experience
- Demonstrated expertise in retail environment with hands-on knowledge of retail processes and procedures
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency working cross-functionally in fast-paced, dynamic team environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy and precision
- Valid work authorization to work in the United States
