Gucci seeks a China Commercial General Manager in Shanghai to lead commercial strategy, retail operations, and omnichannel excellence across mainland China.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy aligned with overall business and brand objectives
  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across new and existing markets, products, and customer segments
  • Assess market potential and support decisions related to network optimization, store expansion, relocations, and investment opportunities
  • Lead and optimize the retail organization to achieve revenue targets and commercial objectives across all channels
  • Establish and monitor sales KPIs, performance metrics, and reporting structures to drive accountability
  • Oversee key account management and lead major commercial negotiations
  • Ensure alignment between sales, marketing, merchandising, digital, and clientele functions
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing retail and commercial teams fostering a collaborative, customer-focused culture
  • Support succession planning, talent development, and organizational capability growth
  • Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and drive performance improvement
  • Act as the voice of the customer, gathering localized feedback to enhance the overall customer experience and brand loyalty
  • Collaborate with merchandising and operations teams on pricing strategies, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Lead business development initiatives and expansion into new markets or sectors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a closely related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five years' commercial management experience within luxury brands operating across Mainland China across all channels including e-commerce
  • Proven commercial acumen and capability to oversee all retail channel operations end-to-end
  • Track record of leading, nurturing, and developing diverse talents within a matrix organization spanning regional offices and global headquarters
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Willingness to undertake travel for at least 50% of working time and accept rotational mobility assignments

Experience

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading diverse, matrix-based teams across regional and global organizational structures and successfully driving revenue growth in competitive luxury markets.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
