Gucci seeks an Associate Menswear Design Director in Milan to lead menswear RTW collection development and support design direction.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Menswear RTW Design Director in defining and executing seasonal creative concepts across RTW, tailoring, outerwear and denim.
  • Translate Creative Director and Design Director directives into coherent design guidelines and category briefs that safeguard brand codes and aesthetic integrity.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end collection development: concept, materials sourcing, prototype review, fittings and final approvals.
  • Provide structured, constructive feedback on sketches, technical inputs, samples and fittings to ensure design intent and product quality.
  • Coordinate design team workflow, prioritise deliverables and manage seasonal calendars to meet development milestones.
  • Liaise with Merchandising, Product Development, Industrial and Production teams to align creative vision with commercial objectives, feasibility and timing.
  • Monitor sample quality and consistency with sketches; ensure materials, construction and finishing enhance the final product.
  • Contribute to storytelling, presentations and collection reviews; actively participate in runway, styling and show preparations.
  • Foster a collaborative, disciplined and creativity‑driven team environment and act as a key decision support in cross‑functional meetings.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 15 years of progressive experience in menswear ready‑to‑wear design within structured fashion or luxury houses, including senior or associate leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in developing full menswear RTW collections across multiple categories (RTW, tailoring, outerwear, denim).
  • Deep understanding of menswear codes, silhouettes, constructions, fabrics and material behaviors.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a Design Director / Creative Director and operating within high‑expectation, creative‑director led environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Merchandising, Product Development, Industrial and Marketing stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and project‑management capabilities with experience managing seasonal timelines and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to give structured, actionable feedback and align cross‑disciplinary teams.
  • High sensitivity to brand identity, design coherence and product quality.
