Role & Responsibilities
- Precisely cut leather, textiles and composite materials to pattern specifications using hand tools, dies and cutting presses.
- Interpret and follow technical patterns, markers and nesting plans to optimise material yield and minimise waste.
- Set up and operate clicker/press machines, band knives and other cutting equipment safely and to designated tolerances.
- Perform visual and dimensional quality checks on cut pieces and report defects or deviations to production leads.
- Maintain cutting dies, blades and tooling; perform routine sharpening and basic preventative maintenance.
- Collaborate with pattern makers, sewers and production planners to ensure correct component delivery and on-time production flow.
- Adhere to workplace safety, material handling and sanitation protocols; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to raise efficiency and reduce scrap.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in cutting leather or heavy textiles, preferably within luxury goods, footwear or bespoke tailoring.
