ETA SA, part of the Swatch Group, offers a four-year certified apprenticeship in watchmaking with a specialization in industrial methods. Apprentices develop expertise in mechanical and quartz watch manufacturing and assembly across multiple departments including customer service, prototyping laboratories, and quality assurance. Throughout the program, apprentices collaborate with engineers and technicians on complex problem-solving, perform precision maintenance work, optimize individual watch components to micron-level tolerances, and contribute to production process improvements.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assemble and fabricate mechanical and quartz watches under professional guidance
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and micromechanics to develop solutions for complex manufacturing challenges during new model development
- Perform precision optimization and analysis of individual watch components to ensure perfect integration within mechanisms
- Execute demanding maintenance work and contribute to continuous improvement of production processes
- Fabricate specialized tools required for movement and case assembly
- Establish and maintain quality standards for watch manufacturing within the assurance department
- Conduct regular quality control inspections and testing of completed work
