ETA SA, a leading Swiss watch manufacture under the Swatch Group, seeks an apprentice production mechanic to learn precision machining and assembly techniques. Over three years, the apprentice will master the manufacture of individual components and series production of small mechanical parts, including programming and optimization of production machinery, assembly of subassemblies, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting—all to the rigorous tolerances demanded by high-end horology.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manufacture individual components and production fixtures using CNC and traditional machining techniques
- Operate and optimize production machinery for series manufacturing of precision mechanical parts
- Program production equipment to specified tolerances and technical requirements
- Assemble individual components into subassemblies and perform precision fitting operations
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve production defects and machine malfunctions
- Maintain detailed records of production parameters and quality standards
Qualifications
- Completion of lower or intermediate secondary education with excellent grades in geometry, mathematics, and technical drawing
- Strong aptitude for practical and technical work
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning
- Willingness to assume responsibility for precision work and equipment operation
Skills
Experience
Entry-level candidates with no prior professional experience are welcome; strong scholastic performance in technical subjects is required.
Education
Lower or intermediate secondary education ("Mittlere oder niedrigere Volksschulstufe") with very strong performance in geometry, mathematics, and technical drawing.
