ETA SA (Swatch Group) in Grenchen, Switzerland seeks a Polymechanic — EDM (80–100% onsite). Skilled EDM operator for toolmaking and mould maintenance.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and monitor wire and die‑sinker EDM (electroerosion) machines to manufacture and repair injection‑moulding tools, tool components and precision parts.
  • Execute tool repairs, corrections, cleaning and modifications to ensure moulds meet production tolerances and surface quality requirements.
  • Manufacture new mould components and subassemblies according to technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Program and adjust machining parameters, select electrodes and tooling, and optimise EDM cycles for efficiency and surface integrity.
  • Perform in‑process and final inspection using precision measuring instruments; document measurements and deviation reports.
  • Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to troubleshoot tool performance and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain machine hygiene, perform routine maintenance and ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

  • Completed vocational training in polymechanics, precision mechanics, toolmaking or equivalent technical apprenticeship.
  • Proven proficiency with wire EDM and die‑sinker EDM processes in an industrial production environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD outputs and machining specifications.
  • Sound knowledge of precision measurement techniques and use of micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and height gauges.
  • High manual dexterity, attention to detail and commitment to Swiss manufacturing quality standards.
