ETA SA (Swatch Group) in Grenchen seeks a Mobile Robotics Intern to support automation in watch production — on-site, approx. 5 months.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the Automation team in the development, integration and deployment of mobile robotic systems for watch production lines.
- Participate in the design, simulation and testing of robot workflows, navigation and cell layouts to meet production constraints and cleanliness standards.
- Implement and debug control and high‑level software (e.g., ROS, Python/C++ scripts) and assist with PLC and robot controller configurations.
- Perform on‑site commissioning, validation runs and data collection; document results and propose iterative improvements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electronics, production engineers) to ensure safe, efficient robot operation and adherence to Swiss manufacturing quality standards.
Qualifications
- Enrolment in a bachelor's or master's programme in mechatronics, robotics, automation, mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent).
- Solid fundamentals in robotics, control systems and automation.
- Hands‑on experience with robotics projects, lab work or academic theses related to mobile robots or automation.
- Good problem‑solving skills, methodical approach to testing and documentation, and readiness to work on‑site in Grenchen.

Experience
Practical project or laboratory experience in mobile robotics, automation or machine integration gained through university coursework, personal projects or prior internships; prior exposure to on‑site commissioning or production environments is advantageous.
Education
Currently enrolled in a relevant technical degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in mechatronics, robotics, automation, mechanical or electrical engineering.
