ETA SA seeks a Metrology Specialist in Grenchen, Switzerland to define measurement methodologies and optimize precision testing for Swiss timepiece components.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and implement measurement methodologies and fixturing strategies for watch components and movements
- Ensure proper integration of measurement systems into production workflows and guarantee measurement traceability
- Support measurement system capability studies (MSA) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) analysis
- Establish and standardize measurement programs across Keyence, Hexagon, and Vertex platforms
- Train and support production personnel on automated and manual measurement equipment operation
- Analyze measurement program errors and implement corrective actions
- Procure and manage measurement tools and gauges (plug gauges, ring gauges, etc.) and maintain inventory in the GMS database
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for measurement processes and support FSTR documentation
- Provide expert consultation on complex quality and measurement issues requiring specialized metrology knowledge
Qualifications
- Higher technical education (technical school, vocational diploma ES, BTS, or equivalent)
- Quality assurance certification (TQ1) required; metrology specialization preferred
- Minimum 5 years of confirmed experience in industrial manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated expertise with automated and manual precision measurement equipment
- Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word) and measurement software platforms
Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of confirmed experience in industrial manufacturing environments, ideally within the watchmaking or precision engineering sector. Demonstrated proficiency with both automated and manual precision measurement equipment and a track record of successfully implementing measurement system improvements.
Education
Higher technical education is required, such as a technical school diploma, vocational school (ES), BTS, or equivalent qualification. Quality assurance certification (TQ1) is mandated; specialization in metrology is highly valued.
