ETA SA seeks an experienced Metrologist in Grenchen, Switzerland, to ensure precision quality control for Swiss-made watch movements and components.
Role & Responsibilities
- Operate and calibrate precision measurement instruments and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify component and assembly dimensions
- Conduct dimensional inspections on watch movements, complications, and components according to technical specifications and quality standards
- Generate and analyse metrology data and reports to ensure compliance with Swiss-made quality requirements
- Maintain accurate records of measurements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies and technical issues
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration verification of metrology equipment
Qualifications
- Federal Diploma or Advanced Federal Certificate in Precision Mechanics, Microtechnology, or equivalent horological training
- Certified metrologist qualification or equivalent professional certification in dimensional measurement
- Demonstrated expertise with coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical measurement systems, and digital gauging equipment
- Strong understanding of ISO/GUM standards, tolerance stack-up analysis, and precision manufacturing principles
- Technical proficiency in quality management systems and statistical process control (SPC)
Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in metrology, precision quality control, or dimensional inspection within manufacturing, preferably in the horological, watchmaking, or high-precision mechanical industries. Demonstrated competency with CMM equipment and familiarity with Swiss quality standards and Swiss-made production protocols.
Education
Federal Diploma in Precision Mechanics, Microtechnology, or Horological Training; or equivalent post-secondary technical qualification. Certification in metrology or dimensional measurement is highly desirable.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Grenchen, Solothurn, Switzerland.
