ETA SA seeks an IT System Engineer in Grenchen, Switzerland — on‑site, full‑time role supporting infrastructure and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Role & Responsibilities
- Operate, administer and maintain on‑premises IT infrastructure including Windows and Linux servers, virtualization hosts and storage systems.
- Ensure high availability of production‑critical IT systems that support manufacturing and assembly lines, collaborating closely with production and engineering teams.
- Manage user accounts, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 services and endpoint provisioning for the on‑site workforce.
- Monitor network and security controls, perform patching, backups and disaster recovery procedures in accordance with IT security policies.
- Troubleshoot incidents, resolve escalations and provide second/third‑level support for infrastructure issues; maintain technical documentation.
- Participate in IT projects and rollouts (e.g., digital manufacturing, IT Service Management and security initiatives) and liaise with external vendors and Swatch Group IT.
- Implement and improve operational processes following ITIL principles and contribute to continuous improvement of system stability and performance.
Qualifications
- Completed vocational training in IT (e.g., ICT specialist) or a Bachelor’s degree in computer science / information systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in systems and infrastructure administration within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Sound understanding of network fundamentals, server virtualization and enterprise backup/recovery practices.
- Practical knowledge of IT security principles and experience applying security hardening and patch management.
- Strong problem‑solving aptitude, thorough documentation habits and the ability to communicate technical issues to non‑technical stakeholders.
