ETA SA, a cutting-edge manufacturing subsidiary of the Swatch Group, seeks an Automation Technician Apprentice for a four-year federally accredited (CFC) apprenticeship beginning in 2027. The apprentice will work with automated systems, industrial robots, and electrical machinery, developing expertise in designing, programming, and maintaining automation systems and production equipment across the Sion facility. Mentorship is provided by experienced professionals throughout the apprenticeship.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and assemble automated systems, robots, and electromechanical installations
- Develop and program industrial control systems and automation logic
- Install, wire, and integrate electrical, electronic, and pneumatic components
- Test and troubleshoot machinery, systems, and installations to identify and resolve faults
- Collaborate with specialists to develop, test, and optimize prototypes
- Prepare technical documentation and system specifications
- Commission, maintain, and repair installations at customer sites as needed
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment
Qualifications
- Completion of Swiss compulsory secondary education (école secondaire, école à options, or école supérieure générale)
- Proficiency in French (spoken and written)
- Strong foundation in mathematics and computer science
- Analytical thinking and aptitude for abstract concepts
- Commitment to precision, accuracy, and quality workmanship
- Initiative, independence, and personal responsibility

Experience
No prior professional experience required; candidates should demonstrate aptitude in technical problem-solving and a genuine interest in automation and electrotechnology.
Education
Swiss compulsory secondary education (école secondaire, école à options, or école supérieure générale) required. A strong foundation in mathematics and physics is strongly recommended.
