Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary and comprehensive domestic and international trademark clearance searches and prepare draft clearance opinions for attorney review
- Review and analyze trademark search reports, design clearance searches, and assess third-party trademark use and associated risks
- Coordinate domestic and international trademark filings, prosecution, maintenance, renewals, and enforcement activities across the global portfolio
- Monitor trademark portfolios against critical deadlines and oversee annual renewal programs while identifying optimization opportunities
- Provide strategic direction and instructions to foreign associates and outside counsel on trademark filings, prosecution, renewals, and conflict matters
- Review trademark watch notices and exercise judgment in escalating matters requiring attorney intervention
- Coordinate with external counsel on trademark oppositions, cancellations, disputes, and related intellectual property enforcement
- Gather, organize, and analyze evidence related to trademark disputes and investigations of potentially infringing third-party activity
- Serve as primary liaison between legal counsel, internal business stakeholders, and external counsel on trademark-related matters
- Generate and analyze trademark portfolio reports using IPfolio, Saegis, and related systems; manage trademark-related invoicing and outside counsel billing
- Conduct trademark portfolio audits and prepare analytical reports with recommendations for strategic alignment
Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of professional trademark experience, encompassing substantial domestic and international trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement work
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
- Proficiency with Saegis or similar trademark search databases, trademark management systems (preferably IPfolio), Legal Tracker, and Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies, with demonstrated willingness to leverage such tools to enhance efficiency and support business objectives
- Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and superior organizational capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple competing projects, adapt to evolving business requirements, and perform effectively under pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Direct experience supporting business clients and collaborating across cross-functional teams
- In-house legal department experience strongly preferred
- Experience with brand protection, anti-counterfeiting initiatives, or domain name management preferred
