Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy production agentic and LLM-powered products end-to-end on Google Cloud, alongside shared platform, tooling, and infrastructure
- Bring rigorous software engineering practices to stateful and transactional (OLTP) systems, ensuring sound data modeling, concurrency handling, idempotency, reliability, observability, and comprehensive testing
- Apply classical machine learning, statistics, and experimentation methodologies to predictive modeling, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and causal or incrementality measurement
- Build scalable automation tools across domains such as recommendation engines, personalization systems, conversational and customer experience solutions, and measurement and incrementality frameworks
- Author technical design documents, maintain standards for clean code and documentation, and conduct rigorous reviews of colleagues' designs and deliverables
- Mentor and develop engineers and scientists, whilst supporting early-career and student mentorship initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and domain-expert teams on major automation, measurement, and modeling initiatives
- Allocate minimum 80% effort to technical contribution, with up to 20% dedicated to leadership and management activities

Qualifications
- BS/BA in a quantitative or technical field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Operations Research, or Economics) or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of professional experience (3+ with a graduate degree) across software engineering, machine learning, and/or data science
- Strong general software engineering proficiency in Python, including clean API and service design, advanced data-structure and algorithm knowledge, and rigorous testing discipline
- Demonstrated experience building and operating production-grade services, including stateful, transactional systems and databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
- Proven experience building and deploying LLM-powered or agentic systems in production, such as retrieval-augmented generation, agents with tool use, structured outputs, evaluation, and safety measures; or strong production machine learning background with clear readiness to work in this space
- Experience deploying and operating systems on a major cloud platform (Google Cloud preferred) with sound data-processing practices at scale
- Active engagement with agentic or AI-assisted development tools, demonstrating discernment about their appropriate application and commitment to maintaining quality standards
- Established track record of mentorship, continuous learning mindset, bias towards simplicity, and collaborative, shared-ownership working style

5+ years of combined experience in software engineering, machine learning, and/or data science. Experience building and deploying production-grade agentic AI or LLM-powered systems is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in production machine learning, cloud platform deployment, and operating stateful, transactional systems at scale is required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Operations Research, or Economics), or equivalent professional experience. Master's degree or PhD is strongly preferred.
