Role & Responsibilities
- Develop scientific narratives that simplify formulation complexity (pigment dispersion, elastomer networks, film formation, sensory modifiers, color science) into clear, benefit-driven messaging aligned with product claims and marketing strategy
- Create visual mechanisms and intuitive diagrams that translate invisible functions into consumer-friendly demonstrations, working with design teams to ensure scientific accuracy and visual appeal
- Search, interpret, and summarize scientific literature relevant to cosmetic chemistry, materials science, polymers, and film-forming systems; track emerging makeup technology trends and translate findings into actionable internal insights
- Partner cross-functionally with Makeup R&I, Advanced Technology, Material Science, Clinical, Regulatory, Brand Product Development, and Marketing teams to align scientific understanding, support product development initiatives, and maintain consistent communication across stakeholders
- Monitor prestige beauty landscape trends (Sephora, social media platforms, influencers, emerging brands) and translate consumer insights and cultural narratives into stronger, more relevant scientific storytelling
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field (Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biology, or related); advanced degree preferred
- 3–5 years of professional experience, preferably in cosmetics, beauty, or related industries; cross-functional project experience required
- Demonstrated ability to search, interpret, and summarize scientific literature with strong written and verbal communication skills capable of simplifying complex content
- Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments
- Proven ability to translate scientific concepts into compelling visual narratives (diagramming, presentation design)
