The Packaging Inspiration Lab Analyst is an entry-level position within The Estée Lauder Companies' Packaging organization, designed to develop the next generation of packaging professionals through hands-on experience and cross-functional collaboration. The role connects consumer insights, emerging technologies, and supplier capabilities to identify packaging innovation opportunities and translates these into actionable solutions and compelling visual concepts. Working at the intersection of consumer strategy, design, technology, and business, the Analyst combines research and strategic thinking with foundational packaging knowledge, technical visualization, and collaborative partnership across brands and categories.
Role & Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate packaging innovation opportunities by connecting consumer insights, emerging trends and technologies, supplier capabilities, and category strategies
- Translate innovation concepts into actionable packaging solutions that support brand expression, consumer experience, and commercial value
- Research and monitor emerging consumer, packaging, retail, technology, sustainability, and beauty trends, synthesizing findings into innovation briefs and presentations
- Coordinate and support cross-functional innovation initiatives, workshops, and collaborative working sessions with internal partners and suppliers
- Develop technical packaging visualizations using CAD, 3D modeling, and rendering tools to communicate early-stage concepts in brand-relevant and technically credible ways
- Plan and execute innovation workstreams and activities by coordinating materials, samples, stakeholders, and key deliverables from initial brief through completion
- Build scalable innovation frameworks that strengthen category strategies, accelerate early-stage innovation, and drive long-term business growth
- Leverage AI-enabled research and creative tools to accelerate trend research, synthesize information, and support innovation storytelling
- Develop foundational knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, decoration technologies, package architectures, and commercialization considerations through hands-on learning and industry collaboration
- Maintain organized and accessible innovation resources that enable cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Materials Engineering, or a related technical or design discipline
- 0–1 years of direct experience in Package Development, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or Package Testing laboratory environments within cosmetics or a related industry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computer systems
- Basic competency in analysis of geometric objects in two and three dimensions, including understanding of clearances, fit, and finish of packaging components
- Working knowledge or academic experience with CAD, 3D modeling, rendering, prototyping, or product development
- Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes used in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging, including injection molding, extrusion, metal forming, glass forming, vacuum forming, and dispensing systems
- Basic knowledge of decorating techniques and materials applied to packaging across the full supply chain
- Basic knowledge of test methods and quality validation protocols used to assess component and package performance
Skills
Experience
0–1 years of direct experience in Package Development, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or Package Testing laboratory environments within cosmetics or a related industry. Academic or practical exposure to packaging materials, CAD systems, prototyping, or product development is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, analytical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.
Education
