Diptyque Assistant Manager

Role & Responsibilities

• Deliver agreed sales KPIs for the store, including sales, average transaction value (ATV), units per transaction (UPT), conversion, and CRM metrics
• Motivate and lead the sales team to achieve commercial targets and high service standards
• Execute product launches, sampling campaigns, in-store displays, and window schemes in alignment with Marketing Plan directives
• Implement and uphold visual merchandising guidelines in conjunction with the Business Manager
• Manage in-store events including launch previews, customer experiences, masterclasses, and fragrance fittings
• Set exemplary customer service standards and resolve consumer queries and complaints professionally
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring impeccable service delivery at all times
• Ensure staff possess comprehensive product knowledge and can articulate both new and core seasonal ranges
• Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to maintain market awareness
• Serve as secondary point of contact with headquarters, providing and receiving feedback in a professional manner
• Communicate commercial insights about store performance and recommend fact-based improvements
• Conduct regular team meetings to keep all staff informed on business developments
• Maintain back-of-house areas to a high standard and ensure store cleanliness and tidiness
• Complete all paperwork and reporting accurately and on schedule (daily, weekly, monthly) and interpret sales data to set action plans
• Enforce cash handling guidelines, bank transactions, and petty cash procedures
• Demonstrate full knowledge of till procedures and systems
• Support the Business Manager with team management and staffing issues
• Coach and develop staff in collaboration with the Retail Area Manager and Business Manager
• Address staff performance issues promptly, professionally, and effectively
• Maintain full awareness of security, health, and safety requirements
• Support loss prevention initiatives across risk management, physical security, cash controls, and inventory management
• Manage store maintenance in coordination with the Business Manager and Operations Manager
• Monitor stock levels and conduct scheduled stock takes with the Inventory Manager
• Act as local retail expert for Diptyque, developing relationships with local retailers, councils, and community organizations
• Serve as secondary key holder with 24/7 contactability for emergency situations
• Manage emergency situations involving the store and team in the Business Manager's absence
• Complete general administrative duties

Qualifications

• Proven experience in luxury retail management or assistant manager role
• Demonstrated ability to drive sales performance and meet KPI targets
• Strong visual merchandising knowledge and execution capability
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in POS systems and retail management software
• Knowledge of health, safety, and loss prevention protocols

Skills

Experience

Minimum 2–3 years in a retail management or supervisory role, ideally within luxury, beauty, or fragrance sectors. Proven track record of delivering sales targets and leading high-performing retail teams.

Education

Secondary education or equivalent. Further retail management qualifications or certifications are advantageous.
