Diesel: Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist, London (12-month maternity cover FTC) for UK, Ireland and Nordic regions.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end payroll processing for UK OTRB Brands, Ireland Diesel, and Nordic Diesel regions
  • Calculate payments for starters, leavers, and mid-month payroll changes across retail and head office populations
  • Serve as primary payroll contact for employee queries via email and face-to-face consultations
  • Administer monthly payroll deductions and process additional payroll runs where necessary
  • Reconcile payroll data and prepare accurate statutory reporting and compliance documentation
  • Perform monthly payroll reviews with Finance department and investigate discrepancies
  • Execute year-end payroll closure processes and coordinate with external auditors
  • Administer bonus calculations and communications for head office and retail employees
  • Manage pension administration, voluntary benefits (healthcare, dental, childcare vouchers, cycle to work, season ticket loans), and company car schemes
  • Process maternity, paternity, and shared parental leave benefit calculations
  • Ensure timely distribution of HMRC documentation, electronic payslips, P60s, and P11Ds
  • Reconcile HMRC and general ledger accounts and report national statistics and turnover figures
  • Support HR team with employee inductions, contractual information, and benefits guidance
  • Maintain payroll systems, department filing and archiving, and departmental KPI tracking
  • Support HR Manager on seasonal projects including budgeting and forecasting initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on payroll administration and in-house payroll processing experience
  • Advanced proficiency in payroll systems, preferably ADP Freedom
  • Advanced Excel and payroll software skills
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC compliance requirements
  • Experience with multi-region payroll management preferred
  • SAP Success Factors and PeopleSoft experience beneficial
  • Retail operations experience advantageous

Experience
