Role & Responsibilities
- Design, develop and operate scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on Google Cloud Platform to support analytics, e‑commerce and business intelligence needs.
- Implement and optimise data warehousing solutions using BigQuery and ensure performant querying and partitioning strategies.
- Integrate streaming and batch data sources using Pub/Sub, Dataflow or equivalent technologies; ensure low-latency, resilient data flows.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists and product stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data models and datasets.
- Build and maintain orchestration, scheduling and monitoring for data workflows (e.g., Apache Airflow); implement alerting and observability.
- Apply infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices to data platform provisioning and deployments (Terraform, Git workflows).
- Ensure data quality, lineage, governance and security best practices across the platform; participate in data catalogue and documentation efforts.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, perform capacity planning and contribute to platform cost optimisation on GCP.
Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience designing and delivering production data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational / analytical query optimisation.
- Professional experience with Python for data engineering tasks and scripting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of data modelling for analytics and dimensional modelling principles.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices (e.g., Terraform, Git, CI/CD).
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to cross-functional stakeholders and to document solutions comprehensively.
Skills
Experience
Typically 3–5 years in data engineering or similar roles, with demonstrable experience building cloud-native data platforms and production pipelines; prior work on GCP is strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience accepted. A master's degree or advanced certifications in cloud technologies is advantageous.
