Chief Safety Officer, Musina, South Africa – Lead safety management systems across mining operations at our Limpopo facility.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of integrated safety and health management systems across surface and underground operations
- Coordinate and lead risk assessments across operational and project environments
- Lead and coordinate safety audits and inspection programmes across the mine
- Lead investigation of serious and critical incidents and develop preventive action plans
- Develop and maintain safety performance reporting systems and dashboards
- Lead and manage safety officers and safety teams
- Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders on safety compliance matters
- Ensure compliance with MHSA, OHSA and applicable safety standards and legislation
- Drive execution of safety plans and programmes to support production and project delivery
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (essential)
- Degree or Diploma in Safety Management, Engineering or related field
- Safety management qualifications such as SAMTRAC or COMSOC or equivalent advantageous
- Minimum 8–10 years' experience in mining, safety or operational environments
- Minimum 3 years' supervisory or management experience in safety
- Proven experience in safety management systems implementation
- Proven experience in risk assessment and compliance
- Proven experience in incident investigation and reporting
- Proven experience in audit and inspection programmes

8–10 years' experience in mining, safety or operational environments, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity within the safety function. Proven track record implementing safety management systems, conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and managing audit and inspection programmes. Experience across surface and underground mining operations is advantageous.
Education
Grade 12 (secondary education) is essential. A degree or diploma in Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field is required. Safety management qualifications such as SAMTRAC or COMSOC are advantageous.
