A makeup artist for the Clinique counter at Fenwick Canterbury will combine creative expertise, technical proficiency, and genuine passion for client engagement to deliver personalized in-store experiences that educate and delight customers. The role encompasses consultative selling, makeup application and artistry, visual merchandising oversight, and participation in in-store events to maintain competitive visual standards. This position offers entry-level advancement opportunities within a prestige beauty environment, with comprehensive training and development provided to candidates at all experience levels, from amateur to professionally certified.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide personalized, inspirational makeup consultations and applications to customers, tailoring recommendations to individual needs and preferences
• Develop and maintain expert product knowledge across the Clinique range to educate customers and drive sales conversion
• Execute visual merchandising standards and counter maintenance to ensure the beauty counter remains visually compelling and competitive
• Participate in planning and executing in-store events and promotional activations as part of a high-performing retail team
• Operate retail point-of-sale systems with accuracy and efficiency to process transactions and customer data
• Work collaboratively with team members and visual merchandising staff to achieve store-wide performance targets and customer satisfaction objectives

Qualifications

• Makeup artistry certification or previous retail beauty counter experience preferred; amateur-level expertise with demonstrated creative and technical capability is acceptable
• Ability to provide inspirational, authentic, and personalized customer service consistently
• Flexibility to work retail hours including daytime, evening, weekend, and special event schedules in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with retail point-of-sale software systems
• Proof of right to live and work in the United Kingdom

Skills

Experience

While certification in makeup artistry and prior retail beauty experience are desirable, the role welcomes applicants with amateur-level experience who demonstrate strong creative and technical expertise. Previous exposure to fast-paced retail environments and point-of-sale systems is advantageous.

Education

Makeup artistry certification or equivalent professional qualification preferred but not required; secondary education or equivalent is standard.
